The program is available to people in the Baltimore community and beyond with an interest in creating and maintaining Homa gardens. One of the goals is to work with youth and children in the area of sustainable agriculture and Homa Farming. Committee members in Baltimore and other communities in the US keep each other updated on best practices, based on their experiences. The committee launched an initiative to support the creation of a Homa garden in the household of every BHC member, beginning with having at least one edible plant growing.
These ancient Homa fires have made successful gardening available to the average homemaker. Some of our gardeners put in large gardens in the spring and plant a second garden for the fall.
